Dear Anonymous Karma Caster,

While you're interest in my journal is appreciated, the nonsensical karma voting is getting out of hand. it would be one thing if you actually took the time to say something, or even LEFT your karma casting as one per entry, but constantly casting positive and negative votes that cancel each other out... it's starting to get rather annoying.

Thank You,

The Grey Blogtress

Still Plugging Away

music: the fans here in the living room
mood: tired, because Roxy insisted I wake up at 11 fricking AM

I finished off chapter seven last night... and got a good start on eight. I guess this nervousness waiting for beta pays off a little. Probably just touch of nervousness waiting for school to start too. Hrm, mental note: look up books today.

I guess I'll post Chapter Eight if I get any more on it. Am starting to wonder how I'm going to fit in the Teyla and Ronon storyline within the breaks I've made, because the moment THEY dial Atlantis it'll be obvious that the problem is on Sheppard and McKay's end, and I have a feeling readers will be a lot quicker on figuring out what's happened to them than they are (in their defense, the happy little villagers of the past... not so helpful.)

On an amusing note, McKay and throwaway character Arash have an interesting hate/hate relationship.

January Word Total: 20,784 (WTF? Why can't I write like this during NanoWriMo?)
Daily: Uh, met the quota of 250

*cracks up* I apparently had one of my files scrolled just to where the top line read "Teyla was flashing him", and of course having finished off my grog, what image am I getting in my mind?

...oh my, that's disturbing. Divorcing myself from this blog until the morning (I hope).

A "Grog"gy Entry (Oh I'm so witty!)

music: Eminem - Without Me
mood: giggly

I made grog for the first time tonight, and that stuff is kinda potent, but strangely addicting, but I'm now sad that I don't have more rum, and I'm down to the bottom of my mug of rum. Pretty darn potent, as it's getting kinda hard to concentrate.

I looked again at the length of my chapters, and decided they were a bit too much... so I've decided to renumber them, and I'm now officially working on Chapter 7 of "Twilight...", and on page 53 of who knows how many.

I'd like to test out my theory if being flamingly drunk can inspire me to have McKay do something even more OOC and hillarious in the plant fic, but nothing's coming. Drat. But I finished off the song and dance scene yesterday, and that fic is at 15 pages now, but unfortunately I reminded myself that I had a tiny little scrap of paper that I had written the rest of the plot out on (this summer!), and proceeded to search m entire damn purse for the thing, but alas, it's gone to some great idea resting place in the sky... or something.

Thing was it had a lot of damn good ideas in it, but I'm not one to be tied down to outlines. Although damn, I'm trying to decide where to pick up the infirmary scene (from where Sheppard demands the tests, or after the tests)...

Honestly I'm not sure how long I can keep Ford down the infirmary with that rash, so I probably should get a nice ribbing scene out of it while I can, because McKay's next visit isn't going to go so smoothly...

Stalled on page 11-ish of the next "Ties that Bind", guess I'm going to need to watch "Hide and Seek", oh the agony, the imposition! Opening up the leash story now to see if I can get any inspiration on it. And I've reached the end of my glass and hit like a few more songs on my playlist, so I shall close this entry out without another update.

Surprise! ToI Update!

music: Gorillaz - Feel Good, Inc.
mood: Not tired at all

I lied. Here's an excerpt (for Steve, since he occassionally pokes his head in smile and Kam if she gets curious again).

My muse is surprising me, is all I'm saying (in case I might accidentally scare her away). Just added a whole new chapter for Twilight of the Idols

ToI Word Count: 2902
January Word Count: 17,208

I must now force myself to sleep, so I can wake up tomorrow. My last full day in Florida.

<--- Sad

Not tired though. Much love for ToI, hopefully I'll finish this story one day. Hopefully I'll finish this story before this year's Nanowrimo.

Managed to still fit that Wizard of Oz reference in. Go me. McKay's probably freaking out a little too much. Oops. It amuses me though. I'm very tempted to name this chapter after McKay's gag, because that came out of left field, and is still making me snicker. Poor Rodney, I have to torture him like this, because eventually I'm giving the poor man real angst and whumping in the story (like he somehow wound up having angst and ankle injury out of nowhere in "Dead or Alive"). I've got to keep him relatively whole until then... they'll be stuck in the past for at least two months, so maybe... >=D

No, bad Grey. Don't whump the McKay in addition to the whump he's already assigned. It's too greedy...

And too tempting.

Damn, I guess I'll just see what happens. When I plan these things out too much they stop themselves.

Let's see, that's a total of three different stories I've gotten some good headway done on today. Please don't leave me muse, I love you. <3

I think I might wind up finishing another fic before Linda finishes beta'ing, lol, poor girl... I think my writing is mostly nervous-waiting-to-post energy. Please muse, stay with me after I post this one. I've missed you so.

Okay enough, I seriously need to go to bed.

(...whump...)

January: Off to a Grand Start!

music: Fallout Boy (in my head! :o)
mood: Chipper

January has been a pretty darn good month for writing, or let me make a correction, starting last Friday has been great for writing. I finally finished up one of my first SGA stories, and it is in the beta at the moment. Final page count came to 50 pages even, and the word count I believe was over 19,200. Finished that up Tuesday night (well, the final scenes, I had finished the main plot the night before).

More or less rested last night, since I was still to giddy to concentrate on anything other than dividing it up into chapters for posting on SGAHC and on ff.net. I promised Kam to start putting stuff up at Wraithbait, so maybe I'll post that one there too. Of course I'm going to try the evil method and post it in installments.

Today I managed to focus again, and wrote 700+ words on the Ronon/McKay leash adventure (trying to figure out how to get them attached), I went off on another Trinity back-biting thing, so I'll probably have to edit that because it would make more sense if Sheppard was more annoyed to have him stuck to McKay to sort out their differences. Somehow, tying them together doesn't seem to work for me. (Okay it does, it sounds like it'd be a lot of fun, but I promised Ronon a fic razz)

And at the insistence of Dr. Dredd's earlier PM, I've started the next in the Ties that Bind series, and have 3300 words written on that. I swear I've got no attention span, I've been hopping between two fics all day. It's at about 10 pages right now, and I've managed to get the personal shield missing scene written, as well as Sheppard asking Teyla to join. Now I just have to figure out where to go from there.

I'll probably have another Sheppard/McKay scene, where he asks McKay to join, even with his reservations (how the heck am I going to put those across, since the whole fic really is about him forming the team, and the main conflict for him is his confidence in McKay [off-world]). Then of course whatever leads up to the football game, and the scene where he's waiting for McKay to wake up. Of course once I finish this one I have to think of something for 38 Minutes, kind of hard since there's not much room for missing scenes in that one, probably just a short tag or something, something between McKay and Teyla as they wait for word on Ford and Sheppard (not that Ford is extremely wounded, just a little exposed to space). Then I get to write the scene for Suspicion, yay! big grin

<--- too much of a shameless McKay whumper.

I have no ideas for Childhood's End, so I might do something angsty on McKay's part, or just a short Sheppard ribbing his "rampant kleptomania" (and work Zelenka's mug back in).

But yes, together with "Dead or Alive", the counts so far are...

Words Written: 14,306
Pages Written: 39

Wonder how long this spurt of writing energy will last. Hopefully I can keep myself on the regiment of 250+ words a day.

Nano Day... what? 22?

music: The quiet hum of the lab computer
mood: half and half

Ahh, the much awaited (Well by me) rewrite of the blast to the past, sadly minus Ronon, who was complicating things for me too much. Alas Ronon, we shall hopefully find you an interesting plot point, or just relegate you to the back, because quite frankly, I want to finish this story, and you've got an entire story planned for you and McKay, so whatever.

This version hits on several of the same plot points, and I've even reincorporated some of my favorite bits from the original write, but it takes a very very different direction on Sheppard and McKay's arrival into the past, as their reception to the new era is nothing close to the reception they received the first time around. The bit players from the last write have been rewritten, and I think I like the tension and mistrust... it seems more fitting. Besides, the boys will have time to win them over and start playing Robin Hood.

Although how I don't even know yet... can't remember if Carus's name is actually Carus. I have whatever I decided to call him written back on Hal. Ahh, I have my liketheriver fic as well as half of Tipper's mammoth story printed out for my airport adventures tomorrow. Will probably print this new part out and bring a notebook as well, just in case the inspiration bug bites me at the airport. Ahh lovely razz

Word Count (for today and yesterday): 3350 (That's an average of 1675 for both days. Yay!)
Total Word Count: Oh, I don't even know anymore.

The last of the original write-a-thon, before I took off on a different tangent today (that has produced eight pages. Yeah baby! Maybe I'm back on track? big grin) Anyhoo, this whole part will have to be rewritten, but I'll still include it for now.

Ronon is now officially written out of the grand adventures to the past, but that's all right. I'm sure he'll have a lot more fun in the present kicking peasant ass--er-- I mean, teaching everyone how to fight. I'm currently gmailing everything back and forth to myself so I have access to the story at whatever computer I'm at big grin (will have to change that for Wednesday... or print out the in-progress part and *shudder* physically write things)

But speaking up for this part, I do like Teyla's reaction, even if for some reason it wasn't jiving well either. There was just too much panic on both sides for it to work for me, but in reality I know I'd be all "OMGWTF!" if, well, anything from SGA happened. Bad example.

But really liking my current tangent, it provides a lot more whumping opportunities, and everyone's not so sugar coated. That, and my snark meter was up to the max tonight. Will post probably tomorrow or before airplane adventures begin on Wednesday. Woo! Fun!

Struggling to Catch Up

music: Chatting in the Labs
mood: So very very tired

An assortment of several days entries. Will most likely write Ronon out, the more I think of it. Poor guy, I really can't think of much of a role for him in the present either. I guess I just won't think about it and see what comes of it. For once I've got an actual role for Teyla, which is strange...

Word Count from past few days: 1516 (so so sad)
Total Word Count: 14,745

...looks like the fire is dying. I'd really like to finish this story, or at least leap back into the action, but I just have no energy this week between everything. Hopefully watching some of the first season of Atlantis will prop it back up. If I have to, I'll just dedicate one half of December to finishing this insane quest. I will finish, I swear!

Oh yes, and Steve is my hero.

Nano Day 9 - Plot Point Hit!

music: Taproot - Calling
mood: accomplished

Updating this and adding yesterday's word count, because I'm so happy I finally finished it. Four chapters in, 13,000 words later, I finally threw in the major snafu to our boys. And it's also been written where if I have to write Ronon into the present later, it won't be too hard to fix (at least) the flash scene.

Tomorrow Mom and everyone flies in from FL, and Randi will be staying at the apartment for most of the weekend. I have a feeling she'll be a huge distraction. So now I must devote my time between now and 11 AM tomorrow to preparing for my oral presentation, and from 12:30 to phone call time will be spent doing a rush clean job on my room, so my parents don't think they're giving me money so I can live like a slob.

Today was a successful day writing-wise, because I broke both the 10k mark, and I'm only 2k behind what I'm supposed to be now. Hurrah for power writings. Writing to making sure something spefically happens is simultaneously frustrating and rewarding.

Tomorrow I start on Chapter Five, sort of entering into no man's land, as I don't have the initial "OMG! We're 10,000 years in the past!" planned out. I do know we shall be meeting up with some of the people on the run, and realizing how far back we've gone. Will probably need to visit the present and gets Teyla's side of the "WTF?" One major hurdle has been crossed though, and I feel satisifed.

Nano Day 8

Day 8 would have gone better if certain forces of life had not conspired against me. As it stands, I think I did all right. I've opened the file so I can start writing again, but there are too many people up here right now, and I've got a little bit of a headache. Normally I don't care, but right now I wish they'd all go away so I can have a quiet lab so I can concentrate and wallow in quiet and relative peace.
